Akademiska Hus sells part of property in Uppsala to SLU
Wednesday, 20 February 2019The Centre for Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science on the Ultuna Campus, which Akademiska Hus built for SLU in Uppsala, celebrated its grand opening in 2014. The 53,000 square-metre building houses educational and research facilities, as well as Sweden’s only university animal hospital with its own stable. Akademiska Hus has now signed an agreement to sell the stable, which accounts for about 10,000 square metres of the total area of the VHC.
“We are pleased to have reached an agreement with SLU regarding the transfer of a specialised portion of the VHC with animal husbandry where SLU will be a solid long-term owner. The sale will allow Akademiska Hus focus even more strongly on continuing to develop other parts of the Ultuna Campus and Green Innovation Park,” says Peter Bohman, Market Area Director at Akademiska Hus.
“We are extremely pleased that our excellent collaborative relationship with Akademiska Hus has enabled us to complete this deal. Many of the properties that SLU needs for its research and education are specialised both in their characteristics and their geographic location. In order to optimally meet these needs SLU owns and manages certain properties,” says Karin Holmgren, Vice-Chancellor at SLU.
SLU will take possession of the building on 1 March 2019.
