Akademiska Hus emitterar grön obligation.

Akademiska Hus has now issued its second green bond. Interest in investing in sustainable projects that strengthen Sweden as a nation of knowledge continues to be strong and the issuance is for a total of SEK 1,500 million.

As part of the company’s financial sustainability efforts, Akademiska Hus has issued its second green bond with a maturity of seven years. The bond was issued under the company’s regular EMTN programme and is listed on the London Stock Exchange.

The issue proceeds will be used in accordance with Akademiska Hus’ green framework, which has been given the highest possible rating – dark green – by the independent Centre for International Climate and Environmental Research (CICERO). The specific projects to which the money will be allocated and a description of compliance with the terms and conditions of the green framework will be published in a report on the Akademiska Hus website in 2021.

Among the sustainable initiatives that took advantage of the company’s first green bond, which was issued in June 2019, is the new office and innovation arena A Working Lab in Gothenburg, where smart material choices helped to reduce climate impact by as much as 20 per cent compared with if more traditional materials had been used. Other examples include charging stations for electric cars and new solar parks on campuses.
