Botan i Göteborg

Akademiska Hus has signed an agreement with Skandia Fastigheter on the sale of the property Änggården 34:2 in Gothenburg, better known as “Botan”.

Botan is an 11,300 square-metre property with three buildings that have a total of 10,000 square metres of rentable space. The property is located southwest of downtown Gothenburg, adjacent to the Botanical Garden and the Änggården nature reserve. The current tenant is mainly the University of Gothenburg, but Västra Götaland Regional Council also rents a small part through its property company Västfastigheter.

The University of Gothenburg plans to move its operations in Botan to the Natrium building, which Akademiska Hus is building on the Medicinareberget Campus and is expected to be completed in 2023. The company will therefore no longer be able to rent out Botan to its core customer – colleges and universities.

“Skandia Fastigheter is an established participator with a long-term interest in managing and developing the property for current and future tenants and will contribute to the development of the area. We are extremely satisfied with the agreement,” says Magnus Huss, Market Area Director at Akademiska Hus.

Skandia Fastigheter will take possession of the property on 2 May 2022 and will take over all existing leases in unchanged format. The consultancy firm Nordanö has advised Akademiska Hus in the sale.
