The purpose of the BA Tech Awards is to reward initiatives that take us closer into the future and where innovation becomes an accelerator and opportunity to meet the major climate and sustainability challenges we all face. innovative work to digitalise the physical environment on campus.
What started as small, experimental projects to explore digital twins and IoT sensors has developed over the past two years into a comprehensive investment within Akademiska Hus to digitize the physical environment on campus. The overall goal is to create a more sustainable strategy for the provision of premises together with the higher education institutions. Akademiska Hus has implemented IoT sensors and digital models on campus after campus and integrated them with existing systems to collect, organize, analyze, visualize and share data in new ways both internally in the company and together with the collaborating universities. The results include lower costs for the higher education institutions, reduced environmental impact and more efficient property management with reduced risk. This initiative has not only received attention in Sweden but also internationally, as it shows how a company in a traditional industry innovatively creates new value for its customers and owners.
