Elekta is a global Swedish company that develops and produces equipment and software in radiation therapy and radiosurgery for the treatment of cancer and brain diseases. The company is represented in over 120 countries and has approximately 4,600 employees. Elekta has now signed a lease agreement with Akademiska Hus, which means that during the first quarter of 2027, the company will move to 1,000 m2 premises in the Inventum Laboratory – in the middle of Campus Solna, close to prominent research and a growing business community in the life sciences.
"We are very much looking forward to becoming part of Campus Solna and moving into the Inventum Laboratory. This is an investment in the cancer care of the future, where we will develop new solutions for more advanced and precise radiation therapy. We believe that innovation accelerates in this type of cluster and in close collaboration with others," says Louise Wachtmeister, President of Sweden at Elekta.
Inventum Laboratory fully leased
Prior to moving in, the premises will undergo extensive renovation and, among other things, reinforced X-ray rooms will be created. For Akademiska Hus, the agreement with Elekta means that the Inventum Laboratory is in principle fully leased. The building, with a total leasable area of approximately 13,000 m2, houses modern offices and advanced lab environments where eleven companies are currently active – all with links to education and research in medicine and health.
"We are incredibly pleased to welcome Elekta to the Inventum Laboratory and Campus Solna. In state-of-the-art premises, they will be able to continue to develop their vital activities and at the same time take advantage of all the innovation and expertise that exists in the area," says Anna Alsborger, Property Director at Akademiska Hus.
Facts about Campus Solna in Hagastaden
Campus Solna is an important part of the emerging Hagastaden – the inner city district where Stockholm and Solna meet, and which is being developed with housing, retail, the metro, culture and park areas. Here, society, universities and the business community have joined forces with the goal of creating a leading life science cluster.
Akademiska Hus offers a unique opportunity for new players to establish themselves in the field and take part in the central meeting places that are created, where students, researchers, entrepreneurs and start-up companies can come together for knowledge exchange and innovation. In a number of different buildings, it is possible for life science players to rent everything from a single office chair and lab bench to premises with space for larger lab environments and entire head offices. Akademiska Hus also offers premises in the area for restaurants, retail and services.
