New campus plan for Örebro University

Örebro University and Akademiska Hus have developed a joint campus plan that sets out the vision for the development of the physical environments on the university's three campuses. With a focus on sustainability, collaboration and attractive environments, the plan will support the University's role as a strong player in society.

The campus plan has been formulated with the goal of contributing to positive social development and reflects the vision "Campus for community development". It is also linked to Akademiska Hus' climate and energy strategy with the goal of reaching net zero by 2040.

"To get there, energy efficiency improvements play an important role. But above all, that we work for a more efficient use of our existing property portfolio, where new construction is not a first choice, and that we ensure that the spaces we create are really needed," says Anna-Karin Anderwall. Property Manager at Akademiska Hus.

The four overarching goals for Örebro University's campuses are to create world-class learning and research environments, vibrant and identity-strong campuses, and to ensure that development takes place within planetary boundaries with resilient and sustainable solutions.

The strategies for achieving these goals focus on sustainable use of premises, increased biodiversity, vibrant campus environments and a clear campus structure. Through these measures, we want to ensure that our campuses become places that promote both learning and positive community development in the future.
