Akademiska Hus invests in JENSEN education – becomes new tenant in Ultuna Hamn

Akademiska Hus has signed an agreement with JENSEN education which means that the existing preschool and compulsory school (F–3) will move from Döbelnsgatan to Ultuna Hamn in Uppsala. Occupancy of the new premises will take place in August 2026. Akademiska Hus is investing just over SEK 90 million in two renovations that will enable the new establishment close to other knowledge-intensive activities in Ultuna.

Two culturally and historically valuable buildings in a scenic environment at Ultuna Harbour will now undergo an extensive upgrade to adapt to the new school activities. Akademiska Hus is investing just over SEK 90 million in the reconstruction of a total of approximately 2,250 m2, which includes renovation of facades, updating of technical installations and adaptation of the interior to create inspiring and functional learning environments for children of preschool and primary school age. The lease also includes approximately 7,750 m2 of schoolyard.

"We are very pleased to move our preschool and primary school to Ultuna together with Akademiska Hus. The premises and the environment create fantastic conditions for a safe and inspiring start to the children's educational journey," says Mats Rosén, Head of School at JENSEN.

The establishment of JENSEN education is in line with the ongoing urban development in southern Uppsala, where more housing and businesses are planned. The proximity to the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) and other actors in education and research creates good conditions for a dynamic knowledge environment. By combining school activities with student housing and other community functions, the campus area becomes even more sustainable and attractive for both students, researchers and residents in the local area.

"With more preschool and primary school places in the area, we strengthen services and make the campus environment more vibrant. We warmly welcome JENSEN education to Ultuna Hamn," says Anna Alsborger, Property Director at Akademiska Hus.

The reconstruction will begin shortly and is scheduled to be completed in June 2026.
