Aquila - student and researcher housing in Uppsala
Akademiska Hus will build 170 apartments for 350 students and researchers in the Rosendal district of Uppsala. The initiative strengthens Uppsala's attractiveness as a student city and creates housing close to campus adjacent to the Ångström Laboratory and the Biomedical Centre (BMC) at Uppsala University.

About Konstnärliga fakulteten short facts
The student and researcher housing, named Aquila, will comprise 13,000 square meters of new construction distributed across a twelve-story high-rise and a six-story low-rise. The building will form a U-shape around a courtyard and feature a beautiful wooden facade, blending seamlessly with the pine trees in Rosendal, the emerging new district between Stadsskogen and Dag Hammarskjölds väg in Uppsala. The project also includes the renovation of three older culturally significant buildings totaling 350 square meters, which will be used for bicycle storage.

Both shared housing and classic studio apartments
The new student and researcher housing will be built according to Akademiska Hus' housing concept, Academic Living. This means the complex will feature a variety of apartment types—from classic studio apartments with private kitchens to units where up to six people share common areas like bathrooms and kitchens. This approach accommodates the diverse needs of students and researchers. New students often prefer living and socializing with new acquaintances, while more experienced students typically seek more private living arrangements.
