What is Green Innovation Park?

Green Innovation Park is a place for curious and driven people who want to create knowledge, innovations and solutions for a sustainable future. It brings together researchers, students, entrepreneurs and companies with a common ambition: to contribute to sustainable business and social development.

A unique environment for collaboration

The park offers a value-creating arena where academia, business and society meet. The unique context is enhanced by the proximity to the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), the National Veterinary Institute (SVA) and Sweden's only university animal hospital (UDS).

How Green Innovation Park was created

Green Innovation Park is the result of a vision to open up the campus and create a vibrant meeting place for academia, business and society.

The initiative started as a collaboration between Akademiska Hus and SLU and was inaugurated in 2016. The aim was to strengthen the link between research and entrepreneurship – and to make the campus a place where ideas can be put into practice.

The transformation of Ultuna

During the early 2000s, Campus Ultuna underwent extensive development. New buildings emerged, and the area was shaped into a greener, more attractive and cohesive campus. When SLU's operations moved into modern premises in the heart of the area, new opportunities arose in the previous buildings.

It was in this context that Green Innovation Park took shape – as a natural extension of campus, where vacant premises could be filled with new energy, innovation and collaboration.

Today, Green Innovation Park is run by Akademiska Hus, and continues to develop as a dynamic place for sustainable growth and future innovations.

From historic crossroads to future knowledge hub

Ultuna has been a place of knowledge for thousands of years. From the Bronze Age to the Viking Age, the area was an important hub with a rich culture and possible ties to the god Ull.

Ultuna later became a royal estate and has throughout history been characterized by activity and collaboration – something that laid the foundation for today's modern campus.

Since the 1840s, agricultural education has been available here. Today, Campus Ultuna is a centre for sustainable development, where SLU, researchers and companies together meet the challenges of the future, and Ultuna is the place where history and innovation meet.
