About MVM, Soil-Water-Environment Centre
The Soil-Water-Environment Centre (MVM) at Campus Ultuna was built to gather related activities under one roof and thus promote collaboration. The building houses the Departments of Energy and Technology, Land and Environment, and Water and Environment, together with parts of the Faculty of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences.
Already in the planning phase of MVM, it was taken into account that university activities are dynamic and change over time. Akademiska Hus and SLU therefore worked together to create flexible premises solutions. The office part of the building was initially prepared to be expanded with an additional floor. Many of the office walls consist of movable system walls, which makes them easy to adapt if needed. In the laboratory section, the installations are designed to facilitate the rearrangement of the surfaces.
MVM offers a stimulating work environment with the best conditions for successful research, teaching and environmental monitoring and assessment. By gathering several nearby institutions under the same roof, opportunities have been created for inspiring meetings and collaborations.

Environmental Building Silver
MVM was environmentally certified in 2013 according to the Swedish Green Building Council, new production 2.0.
The MVM building meets the requirements for the Swedish Green Building Council's Silver standard. The Swedish Green Building Council is a certification system for creating environmentally sustainable buildings. It is based on Swedish building and authority regulations as well as Swedish construction practices. The Green Building Council is an acknowledgement of important qualities of a building in terms of energy, indoor environment and materials, and is used for newly produced and existing buildings regardless of size. In the Green Building Council, a building can achieve the grade of bronze, silver or gold. Behind the certification is the non-profit association Sweden Green Building Council (SGBC).
Being a tenant in a certified building means a responsibility in the use of the premises and the building to create the least possible environmental impact. In order for the property to be able to maintain its certification, it is important that you as a tenant know what applies. See the house guide for more information.
