The opening offered live music, a short ceremony, hot coffee and s'mores by the fire – elements that contributed to a pleasant moment despite the cold. Speeches were held by representatives from Akademiska Hus, Luleå University of Technology, CF Möller Architects and the student union.
"It's great that we have now inaugurated a place that will be an addition to campus – regardless of the season. The vision for Pussen has been about creating an area that connects the campus in a clearer way and offers both community, activity and rest. I would like to extend a big thank you to Luleå University of Technology and to all students who have given valuable input along the way, we hope that you will enjoy the campus area's new meeting place, says Marie Löwling, Property Area Manager at Akademiska Hus.
After a period of redevelopment, a park area is now ready that gives the campus a clear lift. Pussen has been developed with a focus on accessibility, function and well-being. Fireplaces, wooden decks, improved walkways, new lighting and a bridge over the pond create good opportunities to meet, spend time outdoors and stop directly adjacent to campus. At the same time, the existing nature has been taken advantage of and supplemented with plants that strengthen biodiversity.
Kissen will thus be a new element in the campus environment in Luleå – a place where students and staff can find both peace, inspiration and community all year round.
