Running routes that bring movement into campus life in Lund

Moving between lectures, meetings and study sessions is a natural part of campus life. Now, there are even more opportunities to make physical activity part of the day. Through the initiative Lund on the Run, several organisations in Lund have jointly developed three running routes across the city’s knowledge environments.

The initiative is a collaboration between Akademiska Hus, Lund University, Lund Municipality, Wihlborgs, AF Bostäder, the National Property Board of Sweden, ESS, Medicon Village and Vectura. Together, the parties want to contribute to increasing physical activity and highlight all the fantastic opportunities for education, career and innovation that exist in the city of Lund.

The three routes – The Campus sprint (4 km), The Career Jog (6 km) and Innovation Loop – link key areas such as Lund University, Medicon Village, Science Village and Ideon.

As the routes intersect at several points, they are also easy to adapt. By turning off where the routes meet, you can shorten or lengthen the distance, creating a run that suits your time and energy for the day.

The initiative is part of a shared effort to develop vibrant and sustainable knowledge environments where health, well-being and social values are prioritised. Physical activity not only improves health but also enhances focus, creativity and recovery – all essential in environments shaped by learning and innovation.

- We want to make it easy and inspiring to move around in our campus environments. By making safe and attractive routes visible, we hope that more people will find their way out – whether it's a quick break or a longer workout, says Elin Strand, property manager at Akademiska Hus.

With Lund on the Run, the campus becomes not only a place for work and study, but also for movement, energy and new perspectives.
