Sahlgrenska University Hospital's educational activities move into Zoologisten

Medicinareberget continues to develop as a central place for education, research and collaboration in health and medical care. Parts of Sahlgrenska University Hospital's Education Unit for Research, Development and Education (FoUUI) are now moving into the Zoologist.

The R&D&I Education Unit has an extensive and hospital-wide assignment and is responsible for the education of both students and staff, in close collaboration with the University of Gothenburg and other higher education institutions, among others. The new premises are designed for learning, simulation, skills training and pedagogical development – important elements for both patient safety and future skills supply.

"A well-functioning educational activity is a prerequisite for safe care and an attractive workplace. Today's students are tomorrow's employees, and our mission is to ensure that all students at Sahlgrenska University Hospital receive a modern and high-quality clinical education of the highest class," says Diana Swolin-Eide, Head of R&D at Sahlgrenska University Hospital.

The move to Zologen strengthens the conditions for collaboration between healthcare, academia and innovation and contributes to the development of a cohesive educational arena at Medicinareberget.

"Educational activities are a central part of the transformation of health and medical care and in Sahlgrenska University Hospital's ambition to be one of Europe's leading university hospitals. The new premises give us better opportunities to develop education, collaboration and new ways of working," says Joakim Björås, Head of Education at Sahlgrenska University Hospital.

The fact that Sahlgrenska's educational activities are now becoming part of Zologen is well in line with Akademiska Hus' mission to develop and manage long-term sustainable environments that strengthen education, research and innovation. Through flexible and appropriate training premises, conditions are created for collaboration and development in direct connection with other activities at Medicinareberget.

"Sahlgrenska University Hospital is a very important part of the West Swedish life science cluster and contributes strongly to education, research and skills supply in the region. The fact that the educational activities become part of Zologen strengthens the building's role as a knowledge environment at Medicinareberget and is well in line with our mission to develop sustainable and appropriate environments for education and research," says Tony Wolf, property manager, Akademiska Hus.

The R&D Education Unit plans to move into the Zoologist within about a year. The operations are also represented at Östra Hospital and Mölndal Hospital and are an important part of the transformation of health and medical care, with the goal of Sahlgrenska University Hospital being one of Europe's leading university hospitals.

About Zologen

Zologen at Medicinareberget is undergoing an extensive renovation to develop into a modern and flexible environment for activities in life science, education and other knowledge-intensive areas. Akademiska Hus is developing the building with a focus on long-term thinking, collaboration and sustainable solutions.

The building offers flexible premises for laboratory activities, offices and education, as well as common areas that promote meetings and collaboration in direct connection with healthcare, research and academia.

Zologen is part of Medicinareberget, where the proximity between universities, healthcare and business creates unique conditions for innovation and development in life science. It has already been decided that Friskis&Svettis will establish gym and café activities in the building, which will contribute to a vibrant and attractive campus environment.
