The building's ventilation is demand-controlled, meaning it is automatically regulated based on the number of people in the premises. However, the ventilation system is dimensioned based on the size of the room and a specified maximum number of people.

In some classrooms and conference rooms, booking in the tenant's Time-edit system is required for the ventilation to start.

The building is equipped with a speaking evacuation alarm and sprinklers.

To ensure low energy consumption, lighting is controlled and regulated in various ways in the building, based on the function of the premises and the needs of the operations.

The lighting is therefore presence-controlled in some spaces, manual or automatic (time-controlled) in other spaces.

In classrooms, conference and meeting rooms there is an AV panel that is operated by the tenant. It is used to set different lighting scenarios and turn on/off or regulate different lighting zones in the room.

There is a button by the door to turn everything on or off, for example when cleaning or when the first person enters and when the last person leaves the room.

The buildings are designed to maintain a certain standard temperature when people are in the premises. When the premises are empty, the temperature is lowered. The temperature can therefore vary slightly between different rooms and during the day.

The thermostat on the radiator cannot be adjusted manually.

Many windows and glass areas have external awnings that protect against heat radiation. They help to optimize the indoor climate from an energy saving perspective. The awnings are controlled automatically depending on the temperature and amount of sunlight.

Electrochromic glass is installed in the skylights, so-called smart glass that reduces the cooling needs of the premises, dampens heat radiation in the summer and also adjusts the light indoors.

If sun protection is needed in rooms, unlike climate protection, it must be done through interior curtains.

To reduce their environmental impact, Stockholm University and Akademiska Hus have several strategic areas of collaboration. In addition to waste, it is about, for example, reducing energy use and making it climate neutral, and always investigating the need for new premises in connection with new construction or renovation. When it comes to waste management, there is an increased focus on sorting plastic. Both parties also work together to develop green environments and increase biodiversity on campus.

In general, waste should be prevented in the first place, and the waste that does arise should be sorted and disposed of in an environmentally and health-safe manner.
