General information
The Berzelius Laboratory (BZ), designed by Hidemark & Månsson Arkitektkontor, was completed as a modern laboratory building in 1971. The scale and character differ significantly from other buildings on KI Campus Solna. Changed conditions for the lab have meant that BZ has become untimely for its original purpose.
The Berzelius laboratory underwent extensive reconstruction in 2002-2003. The building was given a new use as a "student center" with student information, research and teaching. A central part of BZ is the KIB library, which is a natural meeting place for students and employees from all over Campus Solna. In the auditoriums, e.g. Nobel lectures during the month of December each year.
Basic installations in the form of ventilation, electricity supply, etc. were organized into systems that allowed a versatile use of the house.
