Odlingshuset (the building with the greenhouse on the roof) in the southern part of the KBC block is to be rebuilt. The greenhouses on the 5th floor are being rebuilt from the plastic shell to insulated exterior walls and roofs that will no longer let in natural sunlight. This provides a more controlled growing climate while saving energy. Most of the work will take place on the 5th floor, but we will also make new emergency exits and install structural columns on the 3rd and 4th floors which are in full operation during the project.
During April, the Odlingshuset was surrounded by scaffolding and during the previous week the business had moved out and dismantling of fixed equipment could begin inside the premises on floor 5. The construction contractor is working on reinforcements in the basement on floor 2 in parallel with the demolition of the greenhouse on floor 5. When the contractor is ready, they will place columns on floors 3 and 4 in ongoing operations, which will cause disturbance. The day and time will be announced at least 1 week in advance.
