Akademiska Hus named Commercial Real Estate Company of the Year

Tonight, the real estate industry has been recognized and praised when the annual Real Estate Gala took place at Berns in Stockholm. The winner in the category Real Estate Company of the Year Commercial was Akademiska Hus.

The Real Estate Company of the Year Commercial is one of several awards presented by World in Property and Lokalguiden at the Real Estate Gala. The award goes to a company that stands for an unusually strong development in its field. After being one of three finalists together with Vasakronan and Klövern (part of Corem), it was clear tonight that Akademiska Hus took home the victory.

The jury's reasoning behind the choice of Akademiska Hus as the winner is summarized:
"Akademiska Hus has developed unique and attractive knowledge environments of great value for society and business, while at the same time working intensively and innovatively to reduce the climate impact of its operations. Through a number of projects - and in its ongoing operations - the company has shown a very strong ability to work in a forward-looking and inclusive way with sustainability from all perspectives as well as adaptation to the needs of its tenants and users."

"Around 320,000 people study, research and work in Akademiska Hus' premises, and we feel a great responsibility to give them the best possible conditions when we, together with academia, business and society, develop sustainable and attractive knowledge environments. We see the win as proof that we are succeeding in this," says Caroline Arehult, CEO of Akademiska Hus.

With a property value of just over SEK 107 billion, Akademiska Hus is one of the country's largest real estate companies. It is owned by the state and invests approximately SEK 2.5-3 billion annually in new construction, renovations and extensions to strengthen Sweden as a knowledge nation. Akademiska Hus also provides accommodation for thousands of students and researchers, which increases the competitiveness of higher education institutions and creates vibrant campus areas.
