In 1926, the Origo building was completed and became the starting point for Chalmers' Johanneberg campus. Since then, a lot has happened. New buildings have been added, activities have changed and the campus has grown into the knowledge environment we see today.
That history can still be read in the buildings and places on campus – and now also to be experienced through the new digital tour.
From the bricks of the 1920s to today's innovation environments
With their mobile phone as a guide, visitors can follow them to some of the campus's most interesting places. Via QR codes around the area, films, 360 views and stories about the architecture, people and events that have left their mark on Johanneberg are opened.
Along the way, visitors encounter both well-known and perhaps more unexpected parts of the campus's history. Here you will find Chalmers' student traditions, the library's almost 200-year history and architecture from different eras. Of course, the tour goes all the way to the anniversary itself – the Origo building.
A gift that looks both backwards and forwards
The digital tour has been developed in collaboration between Akademiska Hus and Chalmers Fastigheter and is given to Chalmers as a 100th birthday present. At the same time, it reflects a long-term effort to develop campus Johanneberg and take advantage of the qualities that already exist here.
"Campus Johanneberg has a fantastic history that we want to both protect and build on. For us, campus development is about taking care of the environments that have functioned for generations and at the same time creating the right conditions for the education, research and meetings of the future. This tour will be a great way to both tell about the first hundred years and look ahead to the ones to come," says Pontus Isaksson, Property Area Manager, Akademiska Hus.

Akademiska Hus and Chalmers Fastigheter are working together with Chalmers on the long-term development of the Johanneberg campus. Here, cultural-historical values and existing qualities will go hand in hand with new needs and a campus that continues to develop over time.
The digital tour will be launched in connection with Origo Day on September 23 and will then remain for students, employees and visitors to discover at their own pace.
